- The 51' Ocean Alexander designed by legendary Ed Monk is a cruising couple's delight. The layout of two Queen Island berths suites each with it's own dedicated ensuite head ensures that 2 couples can cruise in comfort and privacy. The showers are large with benches, and each stateroom has an abundance of storage. The pilothouse is the focal point of the yacht where all can gather in inclement weather and have panoramic views.
Entering Freebird through the dual sliding varnished doors, you step into a fabulous salon which is bright and airy. The choices of designer fabrics for the custom built settee and chairs are elegant and timeless. Everywhere you look your eyes catch designer touches, from the high end carpet to the totally custom entertainment center. You will feel right at home immediately.
The previous owner and his wife had the yacht custom built for themselves. The chef had a tremendous amount of input into the layout of the galley which is forward and open to the salon. The many upgrades include a full sized side by side Amana Refrigerator/fridge, granite counter tops with teak fiddles, a dishwasher. top loading dish storage, abundant storage, built in bar with butterfly hatches, lazy susan in the corner, micro/convection oven and a glass top stove. Any sea going chef would be delighted. The best part is that the chef has the opportunity to be involved socially with the guests in the main salon as the galley is open to the salon.
Up three stairs you arrive in the pilothouse with it's expansive windows looking fore and to the sides as well as a large window into the galley. The teak and holly sole absolutely gleams. The helm is center line with enough room for guests to walk freely around the helmseat. The guest seating is raised so that everyone has a view. The addition of a full array of electronics including WAAS GPS, Radar, Nobeltec software, Sony computer, closed circuit tv for monitoring the yacht and an intercom system located throughout the yacht makes her a dream to handle.
Forward and down the companionway are located the 2 queen suites. The master is located amidships in the quietest part of the yacht. The master has been enlarged over the standard size and has abundant storage as well as a washer/dryer located in the aft bulkhead. There is sufficient head room for a person over 6' tall. The berth has a custom mattress as well.

"Freebird" has had exceptional care and incredible record keeping that began in the planning stages of her build. She has had light mid Atlantic to South Florida cruising. Recent upgrades put her in better than new condition.
